What is faith?....

Traveling, especially to a "new to you" country and language.
Changing routine and time zones.
Busting out of normal food choices and quantities.
Generally exploring and re-exploring boundaries and limitations.
Can have a profound and lasting effect.
I suppose this can happen
without a plane ride to some far away land...
Yet I find it very effective to plop myself down
alone, in a country where I don't speak the language.
It jiggles up my predicting and routine loving cranium
and allows a reset button to be pushed.
Qualities that I find surfacing are
compassion, understanding, curiosity and faith.
When I heard this quote yesterday on Krista Tippett's podcast,
On Being, I felt that somatic yes.
You know... when your body recognizes truth.
The opposite of faith is not doubt.
It is certainty.

As much as I love and strive to create certainty in my life,
it is the act of having or finding faith
that regenerates, renews and cultivates new fields
of perspective and beauty.
You gotta have faith...
